Warren E. Hill, MD, reviews the accuracy range of some of the most well-known IOL power calculation formulas, including the Holladay I and II, Hoffer Q, SKR/T, Haigis, Olsen C, and Barrett II. In addition to explaining how each formula can be optimized to provide the most accurate outcomes in short, normal, and long eyes, Dr. Hill also discusses the new role of artificial intelligence in IOL calculation with the new Hill–Radial Basis Function (RBF) calculator. With the Hill-RBF and the Barrett II methods, surgeons routinely report outcomes of around 90% within ±0.50 D of intended correction, he says.
