Steven Vold, MD, says that advances in laser technology and the advent of microinvasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) can benefit elderly patients. Dr. Vold explains that these interventions can reduce the burden of topical medication in a population for whom adherence can be difficult. The combination of MIGS with cataract surgery can also improve patients' quality of life by improving their vision, he adds.
