Ong Eye Speculum

With a standard speculum, the eye remains in the primary position which is ideal for cataract surgery. The Ong Speculum has a larger inferior blade compared to a standard speculum which pushes on the inferior conjunctival fornix to turn the eye down to expose the superior sclera and conjunctiva. The orientation is ideal is glaucoma surgery. In this video, Keith Ong, MD, describes how the Ong Speculum works.
