Evgeny Molokotin, MD, and Prof. Mikhail Konovalov, MD, present remove a phakic IOL that was implanted 25 years ago. The patient presented with a neopathy – decubitus of the anterior capsule of the lens. The remnants of the anterior capsule lens were taken for histological and morphological structure examination. We came to the conclusion that prolonged wearing of a phakic IOL leads to changes of the basement membrane and apical surface which leads to a defect of the anterior capsule of the lens.
