Dr. Abushanab shares his preferred conjunctival closure technique for a fornix-based conjunctival incision after glaucoma surgery. Using a 7-0 Vicryl suture for conjunctival closure, the needle is passed from the inner aspect to the outer aspect of the conjunctiva at one of the ends of the incision, then passed into the intact conjunctiva and tenon adjacent to the limbus with the needle exit at the corner of the incision. In this manner, the created knot will be buried so that it will not irritate the patient after surgery.
