A vitrectomy occurs less frequently during cataract surgery. However, this limits the opportunity for resident ophthalmologists to learn critical techniques. This is a case that demonstrates vitrectomy pearls for success. Highlights include: how to successfully remove cortical material with vitreous present in the anterior chamber, stabilizing the capsular bag with zonular weakness, and placement of a sulcus 3 piece IOL.
