This video demonstrates cataract surgery through a 2.2-mm incision with the Alcon Centurion Vision System and AcrySof IQ aspheric toric IOL. During phacoemulsification, the new Balanced Tip, unique to the Centurion Vision System, is used. The Balanced Tip allows greater energy delivery to the nucleus with less energy at the incision site, reducing the chance of corneal burn. One can also observe the advantages of the Active Fluidics system; as the aspiration and vacuum fluctuate, the flow rate quickly adjusts to maintain a constant IOP of 55 mm Hg throughout the entire case. The other advantage of Active Fluidics is that much less BSS is used; during these 4 minutes and 11 seconds, much less cumulative dissipated energy and only 17 mL of BSS is used, demonstrating greater control of the fluid going into the eye. This case also demonstrates the new Alcon IOL Autoinserter for IOL insertion, which allows great ease for IOL insertion through a 2.2-mm incision.
