Xen Implantation: Using the New Loading System

  Channels: Glaucoma | Posted 7/11/2019

This video demonstrates the technique of using two 6-0 silk stay sutures to keep the eye in primary position during Xen implantation. There is no need to pull the eye downward or even a need for a second instrument. This technique allows for the Xen needle to approach the sclera in a more oblique fashion instead of more parallel as when the eye is pulled downward. This has the potential to help ensure the the needle is above tenons rather than caught within tenons. The loader in the video is also the next-generation Xen loader.
