Aspheric Toric IOL in an Eye With a Torn Posterior Capsule and Stable Bag

Channels: Cataract Surgery | Posted 2/12/2020

[No Narration] This video shows an iatrogenic tear of the posterior capsule that did not extend. The rupture was caused by polishing the capsule. A capsular tension ring was placed to stabilize the bag. The surgeon implanted an aspheric IOL (MX60T, Bausch + Lomb) in the bag. This IOL has the same power from its center to its edge, so if tilt or decentration occurs, it will not decrease the patient’s quality of vision. The surgeon rotated the IOL to the axis recommended by intraoperative aberrometry (ORA System, Alcon). Postoperative UCVA was 20/25, and the patient was thrilled with his outcome.
