Lihteh Wu, MD, speaks with Drs. Richard Kaiser and Jonathan Prenner regarding unexpected complications, such as decreased visual acuity, arising from the removal of silicone oil used in the treatment of a retinal detachment. Upon hearing of similar cases from colleagues, Dr. Wu and other doctors from Latin America and Spain decided to investigate by forming the Pan American Collaborative Retina Study Group. In this installment of the Retina Today Journal Club, he describes the design of the retrospective study and shares some of its findings.
