Treatment Approaches for Keratoconus

Michael Mrochen, PhD, and A. John Kanellopoulos, MD, sit down with Allon Barsam, MB, BS, MA, FRCOphth, to discuss corneal collagen cross-linking (CXL) and other treatments for keratoconus. Dr. Mrochen says that, while CXL is effective at halting the progression of keratoconus, visual rehabilitation techniques are required for patients with a more advanced form of the disease. Dr. Kanellopoulos comments on the long-term stability of a number of surgical and nonsurgical keratoconus treatment approaches.
