Episode 2: Phacotechnology and Incision Size

In the second episode of Eyetube Journal Club, Tal Raviv, MD, describes his study evaluating the new Micro-Implantation Suite of the AMO Whitestar Device. The purpose of the study, as Dr. Raviv explains, was to determine if there is a difference between a surgical incision of 2.7 mm, 2.4 mm, or 2.2 mm. He reports that he did not see much of a difference in results when moving to a 2.4mm incision, and moving to a 2.2mm incision makes insertion more difficult, possibly resulting in wound shrinkage or stretching.
