As a new treatment option for diabetic retinopathy, intravitreal anti-VEGF injections have been likened to slowing a moving train: similar to how steady pressure on a brake mechanism will slow a train, continued anti-VEGF injections over time may slow the disease process, if not stop it in its tracks.
