Fluorescein Angiography Versus Superimposed OCT-Guided Macular Laser Photocoagulation

by Igor Kozak, MD, PhD

Igor Kozak, MD, PhD, conducted a study to compare diabetic macular edema (DME) laser treatment plans using fluorescein angiography (FA) versus optical coherence tomography (OCT) templates superimposed on a patient’s retinal image. In eyes with DME, the area of retinal thickening appears to be larger on OCT than the area of dye leakage on FA templates, and it is hypothesized that such information would affect treatment plans.
