Cortex Removal with Dry Technique for Missing Zonules

in this case with significant zonular loss, Lisa Arbisser, MD, chooses to remove cortex with a dry technique in order to prevent vitreous from coming through the missing zonules. The movement of the bag indicates that the even manual aspiration may be too stressful for this eye. The surgeon places a Cionni modified capsular tension ring and capsular hooks for support during the remaining cortex removal.
