The MOD Pod

The MOD Pod is a podcast by the new medical trade publication Modern Optometry (MOD for short), which was created for optometrists looking to embrace the medical model and practice at the top of their license. MOD has a strong concentration on the medical model of practice, while also covering contact lenses, dry eye, myopia management, and more. It also features Collaborative Eye content within its pages (think surgery and OD-MD relations), so it’s different than anything currently out there. Each episode of The MOD Pod offers a selection of articles from each issue in audio form—so you can stay current on important topics without having to lift a finger to turn a page.

Subscribe on Apple or Android to have each new episode automatically downloaded to your device, stream each episode on-demand from this page, or copy the rss link in to any podcast manager.

Stages of DR, OCTA and DR, Herpes Simplex Keratitis

The cover focus of the June issue of Modern Optometry is on diabetic eye disease, and this episode of The MOD Pod offers you two articles on this topic in audio form. Listen as Cecelia Koetting, OD, FAAO, runs through the four stages of diabetic retinopathy. Nate R. Lighthizer, OD, FAAO, talks about a new ally in the diagnosis and management of diabetic retinopathy, OCT angiography, as he reads the article he co-wrote with Sergiu Picioreanu, OD. Not interested in diabetic eye disease? Then skip to the last featured article, in which Alison Bozung, OD, gives a primer on herpes simplex keratitis.
