Inas Aboobakar, MD, recently spoke at the ARVO 2026 annual meeting about how genetic factors can interact with an individual’s life circumstances to influence glaucoma risk. She reviews the development of a polygenic risk score to help identify individuals who are at high risk before the development of disease, and how circumstances such as housing and socioeconomic status can modify susceptibility of disease.
