Surgical Pearls for Angle Closure Patients

Channels: Cataract Surgery, Glaucoma | Posted 10/29/2018

Steven Vold, MD, shares four surgical pearls in glaucoma surgery for angle closure patients. Dr. Vold says that cataract surgery should be considered early on to avoid complications of glaucoma later on. He also says that if there is anterior synechialysis, especially over 180°, goniosynechialysis is a great option, tight sutures for trabeculectomy are important, and that for people with nanophthalmos, you can break the hyaloid face with the laser or intraoperatively through peripheral iridectomy.
