Using Sandwich Phaco Technique on Pseudoexfoliation Cataract

Show Description +

Ming Chen, MD, demonstrates the Sandwich Phaco technique in a pseudoexfoliation case to prevent zonule dialysis and posterior capsule rupture. After OVD is injected under the nucleus, it is lifted and rotated to the supranuclear position with a cannula. More OVD is placed between the nucleus and endothelium for protection during phacoemulsification, hence the "sandwich" designation.
