Demodex Blepharitis

Show Description +

Anita Nevyas-Wallace, MD, shares her thoughts on Demodex, saying that patients with recalcitrant blepharitis are commonly seen in clinical practice. When collarettes around the base of the lashes are noted, the index of suspicion for Demodex is raised. She explains how to confirm the diagnosis. The use of ivermectin 1% cream (Soolantra; Galderma) works well to eradicate the mites and is nonirritating, unlike tea tree oil.
