Posterior Pole Procedure Offers Incredible View

Channels: Retina

Dr. Eric Nudleman uses a 25-gauge vitrectomy for retinal detachment. The procedure showcases and incredible view of the posterior pole once the anterior flaps are trimmed and peripheral shaving has been complete. Dr. Nudleman used oil as the final tamponade which showed a bit more proliferation, but the retina remained attached. The oil was removed and a final peel of the epiretinal membrane was conducted.

The Alcon Retina Film Festival is an engaging dinner program driven by surgical case videos. At the most recent event in Chicago during AAO, surgeons from around the world convened to trade pearls and discuss innovative technology with their peers.

The stellar faculty, moderated by Donald J. D'Amico, along with guest speaker surgeons, presented video cases and the entire audience was involved in a discussion of pearls and techniques using Alcon’s latest technologies. View the program video highlights, along with a short interview with their author.
