Robert Osher, MD, demonstrates two wound closure strategies, radial and horizontal stitches, to produce watertight closure after phacoemulsification related thermal injury. The universal sign of thermal injury is visible lens particles which can occur within seconds after interruption of fluid flow, causing the lips of the cataract incision to gape.
