Phaco for a Dense Lens with Zonulopathy Using Capsule Hooks

Channels: Cataract Surgery | Posted 2/23/2017

Devesh K Varma, MD, presents a case of a dense lens in the presence of weak zonules and a shallow anterior chamber. A CTR is placed prior to beginning phacoemulsification with a debulking technique but it is quickly apparent that lens density is adding tension to the zonules. Capsular Support Hooks (MST) are placed to stabilize the capsule during the remainder of phaco.
