Removal of Intralenticular Foreign Body
John Hofbauer, MD, presents a case of cataract extraction and removal of an intralenticular foreign body presenting three weeks after initial trauma. The anterior capsule is stained with VisionBlue (trypan blue) and a curvilinar capsulorhexis is performed in a manner to incorporate the penetration site. Careful hydrodelineation and viscodissection is performed, the lens was debulked and the intralenticular foreign body was removed with forceps without violation of the posterior capsule. A multifocal intraocular lens is implanted into the capsular bag without complication.
