PhacoFirst Technique in Femtosecond Cataract Surgery
Stephen G. Slade, MD, presents the PhacoFirst technique, in which utilizes he a femtosecond laser to use less fluid, eliminate the need for hydrodissection, minimize the amount of manipulation in the eye, and reduce the number of instruments needed during the course of the case. In this technique, the femtosecond laser is used to make a pneumodissection to separate the nucleus from cortex, and the phaco tip is the first object to enter the eye. Dr. Slade shares several cases in which this technique has been employed successfully.

Great technique Dr Slade but how is it different to the usual prechop with the Akahoshi pre-chopper?
