Bright Ocular Implant Damage Repaired with Human Optics Artificial Iris

  Channels: General | Posted 7/25/2016

Two years after cosmetic iris surgery with Bright Ocular artificial iris implants the patient presented with decreasing vision due to cataracts, uveitis and glaucoma in both eyes. Corneal swelling was also present. Both implants were removed by me in a previous operation. The underlying natural iris is damaged and unresponsive to light. Following implant removal the patient had poor vision due to cataract and complained of severe glare due to pupil dilation. In this surgery the cataract is removed and a lens implanted. A brown human optics artificial iris is then used to repair the iris damage and restore a normal sized pupil. Even though the artificial iris appears lighter under the microscope light the appearance in natural light matched the patient's eye color very well and restored the natural appearance of the eye. The same surgery is planned for the other eye in the near future.
