Using ReSure Sealant to Prevent Wound Leakage

Channels: Cataract Surgery, Glaucoma | Posted 7/28/2016

A patient with Marfan syndrome presents with a dislocated cataract and glaucoma. Arsham Sheybani, MD, instills viscoelastic in the area of zonular weakness to prevent vitreous from coming through. After performing a zonular friendly divide and conquer phaco technique, the surgeon places a CTR, IOL, and iStent (Glaukos). ReSure is used to seal the wounds to prevent chamber shallowing. Additionally, in a case such as this, egress of fluid could cause a hyphema which may block the lumen of the stent.
