Thais Sousa Mendes, MD, presents some complicated retinal detachments in which peripheral 360-degree and radial retinectomies are necessary to flatten the retina.
it is not surgery! It is a good show for surgeon and bad end to the patient. I do not see any indications for suck kind agressive none rational approach.
Que orgulho ter um belissimo video desses vindo do Brasil!!

Great show of surgical ability. How useful and how realistic these techniques are for patients; i have my doubt. Ophthalmology is primarily directed towards the preservation of useful vision, and anatomical success in vitreoretinal surgery is not a bench mark nor a goal one should strive for. Realizing the limitations of our cheriched techniques which, obviously, we've mastered so well is essential. In doing so we'll find the reason to research new technology that may salvage such unfortunate cases.
