Investigating the premacular bursa with Swept-Source OCT
by Michael Engelbert, MD, PhD
Michael Engelbert, MD, PhD, from the Vitreous-Retina-Macula Consultants of New York, discusses a study designed to investigate whether premacular bursas, also known as posterior precortical vitreous pockets, are a confined space or are connected to other preexisting/degenerative liquid spaces within the vitreous. Dr. Engelbert explains the results of the study, which used swept-source OCT to explore the posterior vitreous and allowed observers to identify prevascular fissures and cisterns in vivo.
