23G Vitrectomy with Scleral Buckle
María Berrocal, MD, presents a 23 gauge vitrectomy with a scleral buckle managed solely with a cutter. Careful maneuvering of the cutter during aspiration of sub-retinal fluid through the pre-existing breaks is done to minimize movement of the completely detached retina. Perfluorocarbon liquid in injected to stabilize the retina and the sub-retinal fluid is aspirated through the pre-existing breaks at the same time that a fluid-air exchange is performed. Laser photocoagualtion is done at the end and the Perfluorocarbon is aspirated with the cutter.
