Episode 27: Clinical Application of the Fluocinolone Acetonide 0.19-mg Intravitreal Implant

Baruch Kuppermann, MD, PhD, sits down with Jonathan L. Prenner, MD, and Richard S. Kaiser, MD, to discuss the fluocinolone acetonide 0.19-mg intravitreal implant, which was recently approved in the US for the treatment of diabetic macular edema in patients who have been previously treated with a course of corticosteroids and did not have a clinically significant rise in intraocular pressure. Dr. Kuppermann reviews data from the FAME study, discusses the value of patient selection to minimize risk of elevated pressure levels, and discusses how this new therapeutic option can be incorporated into practice.
