Traumatic Cataract with Vitreous in the AC - Part 2: Iris Repair
by Garry P. Condon MD, Michael Snyder MD
In this traumatic cataract case, Dr. Condon inserts a few straight STC needles (Ethicon, Sommerville, NJ) through the iris, including the torn distal edge, to anchor it as well as possible to the sclera. When suturing an IOL or CTR, it is important to aim posteriorly to the original iris insertion. If the iris is attached too anteriorly, it will occlude the angle in that area.
