Episode 15: Phakic IOLs vs Excimer Laser in High Myopic Patients

Allon Barsam, MD, of Luton & Dunstable University Hospital in London, discusses his study of phakic IOLs versus laser treatment in high myopic patients with moderator, Mark Kontos, MD.

Dr. Barsam used the Cochrane collaboration, which is a systematic meta-analysis, to combine the results of a variety of different studies. Dr. Barsam observed the data to see what technique came out on top. He found that in more than 230 patients, both techniques achieved the target vision, but the phakic IOL results ultimately showed better quality of vision.
