Femtosecond Laser in High-Risk Patients

  Channels: Cornea | Posted 1/25/2017

Mark Tomalla, MD, discusses his experience using the femtosecond laser with intracorneal ring segments (ICRSs) to treat high-risk patients having keratectasia and keratoconus. His experience shows that the laser is safe and effective in these patients, with stable, long-term (> 12 years) results. He has seen a reduction of myopia and astigmatism up to 50% in his practice. Depending on the patient’s condition, he implants one or two ICRSs.
